Ethical Selling Principles - "To Sell Is To Serve"

Most sales people fail to see the importance of “customer service” in the sales process. They see selling, and particularly closing the sale as a fight for the checkbook with the customer losing. We have heard sales managers say; “If you take the “C” off of close you have lose!” In their minds, the salesperson and customer are in an antagonistic relationship. This is the prevailing attitude in the world of sales today. Most salespeople focus on selling and not on serving. As a result of this attitude many sales people struggle from month to month financially. Customer retention results from servicing customers, not selling customers.
You can learn to serve your customers and prosper financially in the world of professional selling..

SELL = SERVE
As I have already implied, serving the people you sell seems like an oxymoron in today’s competitive world, but “improving your serve” or customer service is the master-key to increasing your sales volume and consequently your income.
Now I want to share a key concept that will change your sales career forever. Here it is; “The English word “sell” comes from a root word, which in the Scandinavian language means to serve.” WOW! That’s revolutionary! To sell is to serve!
